Thanksgiving firsts

Last Thursday was a steady stream of firsts for me. These are all things that I’ve never done before, and never would have dreamt of doing if not for Kettlebell Boot Camp and our Nutrition Support Group!

Here’s how it started:

Got up at 5:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
To go for a four-mile run.
On icy hills.

The ORRC Turkey [...]

“Advanced” workouts and a little confidence…

Another week of “advanced” kettlebell workouts have passed by too quickly. I have to get used to hearing the word advanced but Dana reminds us that we are indeed advanced. I’ve never been considered advanced at anything resembling working out. I’ve always “worked hard” but that’s different than being advanced. I guess I am [...]

Losing pounds, inches and fat!

After diligently following our plan for four weeks, I’ll admit I was a little frustrated to see the scale stuck at the same weight for several days in a row last week. I could still feel myself getting a little leaner and my holy-grail skinny pants getting a little closer to fitting, but after the first [...]

Kettlebells and Intervals...back-to-back KILLER workouts

I’ve been trying to get caught up on life after a few crazy busy weeks. My plan was to blog about working out when out of town or making time when things just seem to be too busy. But Dana changed that plan. With two killer workouts the last two days, I just have to [...]

Remember When…

This morning during Tabata Tuesday, one of the movements was a “V-Up.” When we started Dana said, “Remember when we first started doing these?” Immediately I thought, “Yes, and I remember that I could barely do them.” Actually I think I said that out loud and maybe was speaking for some others, but even so, [...]

A little soreness is good

The saying goes, “No Pain, No Gain.” Right? I like a little pain. Actually it’s a little soreness. It makes me feel like I’ve been working hard and I know for me, it means results.

Today when I woke up, I was definitely sore. Yesterday was an awesome workout. I knew it was a good workout [...]

Happy!

Happy. That’s what Dana wrote on today’s workout.

Well, since it’s Thursday, I think the happiness is that I don’t have to wake up at 6 a.m. tomorrow to workout but I’ll be awake by 6:30 anyway. I am now just used to getting up early to workout now. On Friday’s I am a little slower [...]

Tabata Tuesday!

There’s nothing like a Tabata Tuesday to get me moving in the morning. Tabata’s are one of my favorite workouts that I’ve learned from working out with Dana. After a warm up, quick kettlebell skill work and learning a few new tricks, we move on to the Tabata’s, which is the main part of the [...]

Who Am I?

The other morning there was a brief moment when I thought, “Who am I?” First, it was about 6:49 a.m. and I was in an elementary school gym working out (I am not known to be a morning person). Second, I was swinging a kettlebell (a year ago I had no idea what a kettlebell [...]
